University Package

This package is designed to meet the needs of university professors who want to provide their students with more comprehensive information on bilingualism as it pertains to the field of speech and language pathology but do not have the time to create a program themselves. It is organized in a mini-mester format so that students can easily fit it into their academic schedules. Many participants opt to use our program as their elective course(s) as it contains a two credit hour comprehensive course on bilingualism and connects students with local clinics for a practicum placement. Depending on the level of education of your students (undergraduate or graduate), practicum placements can be set up as observations or hands-on participation.

If you have 5-20 students that are interested in our program, we invite you to apply as their faculty advisor. This would allow them to earn course credits at their home university. We will act as the community liaison and organize accommodations, practicums, local excursions, transportation, as well as provide you with the course syllabus. We are happy to work with you to accommodate any specific learning goals your university requires (research opportunities included).

$580 - $1,685 USD*

Custom Package

The custom package is best suited for licensed speech pathologists or students with a minimum of two years field-related education. The custom package is designed to be flexible and completely customizable. Whether you are an experienced traveler backpacking around the world and would like to connect with some local SLPs through a short practicum/observation day(s) while you’re in the area or you are looking for a longer practicum placement with more support, we are here for you.

The wide price range reflects the flexibility. You can opt for a short practicum only or select additional supports, such as foreign language classes, community excursions, and career-related mentorship. Program participants will be eligible to enter an employment application pool for our partner clinics who are always on the lookout for culturally responsive speechies.

$1,685 USD*

Basic Package

The basic package is a one- to two-week program for individual SLPs that includes all the bells and whistles (bilingualism course, practicum placement/observations, accommodations, local excursions, networking opportunities, course credit/CEUs available).

If you find yourself with a spare week in between semesters or work commitments and wish to use the time to upskill your clinical expertise when it comes to working with multilingual/multicultural clients, we invite you to join us for an exchange.

IN THE SPIRIT OF TRANSPARENCY

We’re the program for you if…

We are big advocates of travel in most of its forms. If you are looking for a light, breezy, getaway experience, our programs might not be for you. We love that for you, if a restful getaway experience is currently what you’re looking for, but we want to be clear about who we are and what we aim to accomplish. So, in the spirit of managing expectations, our programs are designed to be hands-on and reflective. There will be some natural discomforts, and we encourage you to explore them (i.e. difficulties of cultural miscommunications, what it feels like to not be able to fully express yourself due to a language barrier, the frustration of not being able to do things that were once simple for you - think - ordering a drink, asking for directions, making a joke, etc). We have processes to help you navigate and reflect on these almost right-of-passage travel experiences, but they are inevitably part of the experience.

Thinking of a practicum overseas? That’s fabulous!
