Books

Some of our favorite academic texts for those wanting to dive deeper into the topics of bilingualism.

LANGUAGE DISORDERS IN BILINGUAL CHILDREN AND ADULTS

This book is fabulous- but it is also written in the typical academic format that can be a bit harder to get through. If you don’t have time to read it all, we recommend the first four chapters.

APHASIA AND OTHER ACQUIRED NEUROGENIC DISORDERS

This is a great resource for medical speechies. It is one of the only medical textbooks we’ve come across that touches on the importance of semantics when describing a patient and their diagnosis.

The following books are not directly related to bilingualism. They are easy-to-read chapter books that deeply explore the neurodivergent experience/perspective as well as the neuroscience related to the development of emotional regulation. They are the favorites of our local therapists.

UNMASKING AUTISM by Dr. Devin Price

WHOLE BRAIN CHILD by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson

This BOOK has also been translated into Spanish!
